When someone has experienced sexual assault or abuse they feel might feel so bad about themselves that they make a decision or behave in a way that puts them at risk. This usually means acting self destructively. This includes;
- Unsafe sex
- Using drugs or alcohol
- Pushing away the people that care and support them
- Hanging out with dangerous people
Risk taking behaviour is harmful and usually just makes people feel worse about themselves. Talk to someone you trust and find another way to deal with your feelings.
